Every year, Spotify Wrapped becomes one of the most powerful cultural phenomena on social media. What began as a personal music recap has evolved into a global storytelling format that brands, creators, and communities eagerly adapt. For football clubs operating in social media in sports, Spotify Wrapped represents a unique opportunity: connecting football identity with everyday digital culture through a familiar visual and narrative language.

Several football clubs embraced this trend creatively, showing how brands in social media in sports can ride mainstream moments without losing identity.

FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona approached Spotify Wrapped with a clear focus on visual consistency and player protagonism. The club used portraits of players such as Lamine Yamal and Marcus Rashford, framed within Barça-coloured backgrounds and the official Spotify Wrapped 2025 aesthetic.

As fans swiped through the carousel, appears the players’ personal listening summaries, including top songs and artists. This structure allowed Barça to blend sporting identity  reinforcing emotional proximity between players and fans.

Inter Milan

Inter Milan opted for a more interactive and identity-driven interpretation of Spotify Wrapped. The club asked fans which “type of club” they identified with, using Spotify Wrapped-style visuals to represent different personalities and values.

Each option was supported by imagery of supporters, players, and iconic moments, turning the Wrapped concept into a playful self-identification exercise. Rather than focusing on music itself, Inter used the format to spark conversation and deepen fan belonging through choice and participation.

PSV Eindhoven

PSV Eindhoven leaned into design and fan culture to reinterpret Spotify Wrapped through a collective lens. Using Wrapped-inspired visuals, the club showcased the most popular stadium chants of the season, presenting them as “top songs” in a recap-style format. This approach shifted the focus from individual players to the supporters themselves, celebrating atmosphere and identity.

By turning chants into digital tracks, PSV successfully connected matchday emotion with a globally recognisable visual language.

Atlético de Madrid

Atlético de Madrid delivered a data-driven adaptation of Spotify Wrapped by translating its structure into football performance metrics. The club recapped the season through categories such as top scorer, winning streaks, clean sheets, and key moments.

This approach turned statistics into storytelling, allowing fans to relive the season through a familiar and engaging format. By aligning football data with Wrapped’s narrative flow, Atlético created highly shareable recap content.

Juventus

Juventus approached Spotify Wrapped by placing players at the centre of the narrative and prioritising authenticity over heavy production. In short-form videos, players were asked about their most-listened artist or song of the year as they arrived at the stadium.

The format felt spontaneous and unscripted, perfectly aligned with the personal nature of Spotify Wrapped. By letting players express their musical tastes naturally, Juventus strengthened relatability and brought fans closer to the squad.

Manchester City

Manchester City leveraged Spotify Wrapped by seamlessly connecting football identity with music culture through a refined, platform-native execution. Using Spotify Wrapped’s visual language as a structural framework, the club highlighted player narratives and fan habits in a way that felt instantly recognisable yet distinctly Manchester City.

By adapting a global cultural moment rather than simply replicating it, City created content that felt relevant, modern, and aligned with football and music audiences.

Tip of the Week

When a global trend dominates social feeds, don’t replicate it literally. Adapt its structure and language to your club’s data, identity, and emotions.
